Ethanol, specifically E10 (10 percent ethanol blended with gasoline), can be a relatively safe fuel alternative for collector Camaros or any collector vehicle actually. E10 ethanol based gasoline, being what most of us have been using in our fuel tanks regularly for the past two decades and in most cases without knowing it, goes to show how safe it can be. If you have rebuilt the fuel system in your classic Camaro recently then you should have had few if any problems running it on E10 ethanol gasoline. The name Z28 started out as only a Regular Production Order (RPO) option code but has since grown into one of the most recognizable three letters in Camaro automotive history. It may just be a coincidence that the RPO code for the Camaro Super Sport (SS) package was Z27 and that RPO Z28 just followed it sequentially or maybe not. Chevrolet didn’t especially encourage the purchase of Z28’s by private individuals in 1967 waiting until 1968 to advertise the new Z28 option. Many people believe that the 1967 Z28 didn’t debut until late in the ‘67 model year but that doesn’t seem to be the case. A few Z28’s were in private hands by Feb. 1, 1967. Announced on August 10th, 2006 by GM Chairman and CEO Rick Wagoner, Chevy will produce a new Camaro. Production will begin in late 2008 for a 2009 Chevy Camaro that should go on sale by the first quarter of 2009.
